I was born in Tucson, Arizona, but call Farmington, New Mexico, where I lived for 14 years, my home. I am the youngest child and only girl in my family. I have two wonderful older brothers and am looking forward to becoming an aunt for the first time! I moved to Flagstaff to attend Northern Arizona University (NAU) and just never left. I began as a volunteer at The Peaks in the spring of 2006, and fell in love with the residents. I never stopped my involvement with the activities here. I graduated from NAU in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a certificate in Gerontology and Health Sciences. During college, I interned in the Dominican Republic working at an orphanage for 3-and-a-half months, and loved it! Currently I am involved with international students at NAU and live in a duplex as the "house mom" for students from all over the world. I also volunteer at an English School, teaching international students and others from the community. I love to travel and recently returned from a visit to China. My faith is the center of everything I do, and through that I absolutely love people. I enjoy any outdoor activity, especially camping and hiking. During the winter I spend much of my free time snowboarding. When I am at home, I love to bake and try new recipes. I am fortunate to have a job that allows me to do everything that I love! |
