Sondra Smull, Director of Dining Services

I completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa and taught school for several years. Then my husband and I received full grants to study for a masters degree at Denver University, where we both received masters degrees in voice performance. We then moved to Colorado Springs and opened a singing restaurant called Figaros. We had a group of singers who performed Broadway show tunes and opera while the guests had dinner. We operated this restaurant for 10 years.

We moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I became the Food Service Director for a new retirement community in Sun City.Over the years, I was the Food Service Director for several nursing homes as well as a small hospital in Bisbee, Arizona. We also owned another singing restaurant in Encinitas, California.

Throughout my life, my great love was singing opera. I have two grown children, a son and a daughter, and a very spoiled Corgi named Kaelie.
